Hydrant Maintenance

During the last few months our maintenance focus has been on fire hydrants. Earlier in the spring (and coming up again for the fall) the focus was flushing the hydrants. Hydrants that received attention got flushed and checked for leaks, the valve for the hydrant was exercised, and the nozzles got cleaned and greased. The months of July – September the focus of hydrant maintenance shifted to exterior cleaning and painting. Its important for fire hydrants to work properly and to be clearly seen if the event of a fire emergency.
