The BGUA, along with all other Michigan water systems, is being tasked to identify and replace any lead services within its boundaries. According to our records, there are no lead services in Gaines Charter Township or Byron Township. Our job is to verify that our records are accurate. There are three hundred water services chosen at random in Gaines Charter Township and Byron Township combined that will be assessed. We will need to verify what type of material is transporting water from the water main to the water shut off valve, the type of material from the shut off valve going into the dwelling, and what material is used going to the water meter. Here is a letter that will go out to those addresses selected to check along with some pictures of what the process will look like.
Below is a video of the process to get our information about the material before and after the water shut off valve.
